Karon Beach nightlife, restaurants, hotels, shopping
Karon Beach-Karon Beach has a nice long swath of golden sand. This is the noisiest sand on the island as when you walk the sand makes a squeaking sound. The Northern end of the beach has a 3 year old hotel almost directly on the beach, the Centara. It is right next to the klong that drains out into the sea, so sometimes water quality is not so good after heavy rains. The southern portion of the beach features the Karon Beach Hotel and is directly on the rocks and sand. In-between these two hotels is a nice 4 km long golden sand beach with many hotels restaurants and shops across the street from the beach itself. Karon Beach is notorious for the amount of drownings that occur here during the low season when strong waves, tides and rip currents occur frequently. Use extreme caution when swimming between May and October due to very strong rip tides. Places to stay in Karon Beach-Karon Beach features some 5 star hotels such as Movenpick, the Hilton Hotel and the Centara hotel groups hotels. There are also quite a few 4 star hotels directly across the road from the beach. Most of the more budget accommodations can be found farther away from the beach where there are a lot of guesthouse type accommodations.
Places to eat in Karon Beach-Karon Beach has a very wide variety of food to choose from. Down at the Southern end of the beach by the football stadium there are some wonderful sea food restaurants that will have the days catch available cooked to whatever style your choose.
