Kalim Beach nightlife, restaurants, hotels, shopping
Kalim- Kalim lies just north of Patong and is about 2 km south of Nakalay as the road meanders around the coastline. Kalim has an excellent point break for surfers at the northern end of the beach, but it is advised that you only surf here during high tide as low tide exposes coral that would be very painful if you crash onto it. The beach itself is quite rocky and it would be advisable to go slightly south to Patong if you are looking for a sandy beach. Across the road from Kalim there are a number of smaller hotels and resorts, many with sea views.
One of the more well known resorts in Kalim is at the southern end and it caters to a primarily Japanese clientele, the Diamond Cliff. There are a number of smaller restaurants here and towards the south above some rocks are some of Phuket’s most famous restaurants, Baan Rim Pa, DaMaurizios, and Joes Downstairs. Use extreme caution when swimming between May and October due to very strong rip tides.
